Retalix To Implement Windows 7 Into Supply Chain Software

Retalix, a leading supply chain software company, has announced plans to incorporate Windows 7 into it's supply chain software. The company specializes in the food industry and services distributors in over 50 countries.

Retalix has sent a press release going into greater detail about how Windows 7 will be used in it's system. Specifically, Windows 7 will be utilized for 'Transportation Management'. The software used for transportation management is responsible for optimizing freight planning, procurement, and execution. It also identifies and maintains freight hauling opportunities.

Reuben Halevi, President of the Global Supply Chain Division at Retalix explains the decision to use Windows 7, "Windows 7 offers the latest operating system tools from Microsoft, and will help further enhance our software offerings for retailers and distributors." He continues, "The new system will be seamlessly integrated into our solutions, and will help give our clients increased productivity and operational efficiency."

There are a few features that stand out in Windows 7 for Supply Chain management. First, is the multi-touch capabilities which allows users to control devices using a full touch screen interface. Using the touch screen with Windows 7 allows for more efficient touch and multi-touch gestures.

Networks that are enabled by Microsoft DirectAccess using Windows 7 enjoy stronger security and flexibility. Utilizing both Mictosoft DirectAccess and BranchCache, devices can remotely update their application data.

The adoption of Windows 7 will provide legacy support, so all of the Windows XP applications that Retalix was using in the past, will still be available on their devices. This feature is able to work by running a virtual Windows XP environment.

Brendan O'Meara, managing director of Distribution & Services at Microsoft, speaks of this new partnership, "We're excited to extend our long-standing partnership with Retalix" he finishes, "Many have been anticipating the release of Windows 7, and we're excited to deliver the benefits of the new operating system to retailers through trusted sources -- and high-quality solutions -- like Retalix and its retail and supply chain software."

This is but one lone deal in the world of supply chain software. It will be interesting to see if this becomes a pattern, with supply chain companies adopting Windows 7. With the support of legacy mode and the option of running older apps, we could see more Windows 7 implementation in the future.
