Summit On Sustainable Supply Chains Organized

By Doug Caverly

Conferences can be great places to pick up some useful tricks and learn where an industry is heading. Or, barring that, good places to knock back a few drinks and establish some friendships/business relationships. So supply chain management specialists might want to consider heading to a summit on sustainable supply chains this October.

The Tennessee State University Supply Chain Summit will be held on October 14th and 15th at the Nashville Marriott. Two other important points: early bird tickets cost $295, and rooms have been reserved at the Marriott for $129 per night.

As for what attendees are supposed to learn about, a recent statement indicated, "The Summit will provide a platform for educators and industry leaders to learn the latest trends and developments from both an academic and business perspective, hear expertise on the challenges and opportunities, and discuss best practices and workforce development efforts that drive global sustainability efforts in supply chains."

And speakers are supposed to include individuals representing IBM, Lexmark, MIT, Portland State University, the University of Tennessee, and Wal-Mart.

This is definitely an event that's worth looking into, then, even if we seem to live in an age where information wants to be cheap or free.
