Supply Chain Hiring Increase Forecast

People who work in the supply chain industry should perhaps start giving some thought to what sort of coworkers (and/or employees) they want. New data indicates that the industry should grow this year, and more specifically, it's supposed to grow in terms of lots of people getting hired.
A quick note in terms of trustworthiness: this information comes from APICS, which has 30,000 members, and the Cameron School of Business at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, so it's not based on some informal survey that involved one or two small firms.
Now, to get back to the numbers, an article APICS put on SupplyChainBrain stated, "Sixty-four percent of respondents with hiring responsibility expect to bring on new employees in supply chain and operations management within the next 12 months."
Later, the article added, "This high level of expected hiring, when combined with a 50 percent decrease in expected layoffs, indicates the highest level of net job growth in the operations and supply chain management professions since the global recession began."
So it looks like a rather exciting era may be about to start. Granted, training new people isn't always the most fun thing, but it's often good to have more hands and minds working on a given problem.
Considering what's happened with the economy in recent years, the quality of job candidates is likely to be high, too, since there are still lots of intelligent people looking for employment.
